client trying to add me as a user

but I haven’t gotten an invite email. Why is your ‘help’ so obfuscating????????
-
Please could you share the URL of the site you’re trying to be added as a user to.
Thanks.

You need to tell us the URL so we can double check it’s definitely on WordPress.com, not WordPress.org. In the past users have been certain it’s .com but it has ended up being .org. Please share the URL of your site so we can confirm. Thanks.

I’ve been looking in the forums for similar problems. Have you double-checked your spam folder? Sometimes emails from WordPress end up in there.

Okay, I double-checked on a few sites (who is hosting this, icann lookup, who is, is it WP,) and couldn’t find any reference to Automattic anywhere. If the site was hosted on WordPress.com, it should say that Automattic hosts the site. I think the host is Hostwinds LLC.
Noting that I did see on icann lookup and who is a reference to ‘clientTransferProhibited’. I don’t know what that means but it could be something to do with why you aren’t finding the emails. I’m not sure.If your client uses WordPress.org, either you or they will need to go to their forums to get help: https://wordpress.org/support/forums/.
Here’s the support document about the difference, to clear up any confusion: https://wordpress.com/support/com-vs-org/.However, I have made a few mistakes about this over the last few days, so I’ll tag this thread for staff so they can double-check. If in fact the site is hosted on WordPress.com, they’ll be able to help. Thanks for your patience, and I hope you’ll be able to get this sorted out :)

Pretty sure it’s .com because it’s a website, not a blog. I’d really like to solve this without having to bug the client again.
Is there a way for me to get in touch directly with the WP staff?
-
I believe websites can be made with both .com and .org. Regardless, as I said before, I’ve tagged this thread for staff attention. They’ll be with you soon.

While I’m not staff, that site isn’t hosted at WordPress.com. It won’t use your WordPress.com account or WordPress.com’s email service. It’s independently hosted. WordPress.com has no management at all of that website as it does not live on WordPress.com servers. There is no overarching WordPress administrator or staff on that site, and the client manages it in whole. They control all aspects of the site, and no one else has access to invite you to the site.
They need to add you as a new user from their wp-admin. If you have not gotten it, whitelist their domain in your email.
If they cannot get this to work, they as the site owner should use WordPress.org’s support system to solve their issue and locate a solution.
To clear up the .com vs .org confusion, both can be websites or blogs. WordPress.org makes the free and open source software called WordPress. WordPress.com is a hosting company.
I hope that clears things up for you!
