Client website developed with WordPress by consultant

Good morning; I have a client who went to a consultant who developed a new site for their company using WordPress (not the templated type of site) and is telling me that I would need to upload it to our current hosting server. Unfortunately my client is signed up with a Windows based server and it will not facilitate this upload. Do you facilitate this type of hosting so I can just upload the files provided by this consultant and point the domain to your servers?

  • Hi John, our managed hosting service is a bit different from traditional hosting, in that we do not offer FTP access or direct access to the databases. Also, a site must have a business plan to upload outside plugins and themes. But our hosting is managed, and our business plan members receive support, so it might be worth it for them anyway.

If your client would like to host here, you would start with a plain site, upgrade to business, upload the plugins and themes, then import content and adjust any final settings to make everything work right.

If there’s some incompatibility in their installation vs our service (for example if the consultant directly edited core WordPress files, or if they’re using certain plugins that don’t work well here), please know that while we couldn’t cover their time costs for the import, we’re happy to refund within 30 days of purchase if it’s not a good fit.

  • Oh I wanted to add as well, if that would not work for them, we do have a few suggested hosts listed here:
