clock time of my posts is 5 hours ahead of real time
-
WordPress time on my site is 5 hours ahead. For example, it’s now 2:36PM where I live in Bel Air, MD. but when I write or edit the time at the bottom will say 7:36PM. Last night, Feb. 28th, I was trying to finish a post, “Lost and Found” when it was only 7PM here, so post would show as February, but suddenly it was 12:00 midnight in WordPress Land! and the post was dated “March.” Very annoying! How does this get fixed?

Double-check your timezone setting at Settings -> General in your blog’s Dashboard. It looks like you currently have it set to UTC.

UTC is Coordinated Universal Time, “the primary time standard by which the world regulates clocks and time.” http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coordinated_Universal_Time
From your timezone drop-down menu, you have several countries and cities to choose from above the generic UTC offset options. Look for the “America” sub-section. I don’t see any cities I recognize from Maryland, so unless you do, I’d recommend choosing “New York” as that’s in the same timezone.
Otherwise, you can also select UTC-5, which is above the currently-selected UTC+0 option, but that won’t account for daylight savings time changes, whereas choosing the closest city will.
