Clone In, Clone Out on the Dashboard

How feasible is it for WordPress.com to have Clone In / Clone Out functions on the Dashboard?

I have created a basic, prototype class weblog and need a quick and easy way for me or other class leaders to clone it for their classes.

I imagine this would be a handy feature for many others in a similar situations, noting earlier queries about copying blogs (e.g., https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/copy-blog-setuptheme-from-one-to-another?replies=3). I’m sure there are others who would like to help fellow educators with no or minimal WordPress experience get started with WordPress class weblogs that have a common design and look-and-feel across all classes.

As I envision it, ‘cloning’ would essentially ‘import’ everything into a newly created weblog, including custom header, widgets, general and specific settings, etc.; even, if possible, addi–g as a user with administrator privileges–the owner/creator of the prototype weblog.

You can see the support weblog I’m developing for our organization at http://ololliau.wordpress.com. Most of our class developers/leaders are retired seniors, volunteers with little if any blogging experience. Referring to
http://ololliau.wordpress.com/tutorials/set-up-new-class-weblog/, we need a simpler, easier way for us to set up new class weblogs so that our volunteer faculty can get right to work authoring content for their class weblogs.

    Thanks for considering this suggestion.

Thanks for the suggestions. I’ve tagged this thread so it will be moved to the Ideas Forum where we make suggestions to Staff for improved or new functions, etc.

Are you aware of edublogs? http://edublogs.com
Edublogs lets you easily create & manage student & teacher blogs, quickly customize designs and include videos, photos & podcasts – it’s safe, easy and secure. The site runs on the same WordPress software we do here ie. wpMU (wordpress multiuser). However, the site is specifically set up for teachers and students. All edublogs are are advertising free, whereas our blogs here at WordPress.com are not ad-free, unless we buy an annually renewable No-Ads upgrade.

Are you also aware of the WordPress.org Create A Network option?
