Cloning an installation

  Hello,

  I have a WP installation that I want to clone and move to a different URL. I just tested compressing the folder where the WP application resides. I then downloaded to my PC and uploaded it to a different URL. After extracting the ZIP file, I tested the site through my browser. It looks O.K.

  I want to know if I’m just fooling myself or have I actually cloned my site? Do I need to do anything else?

  The free hosted WordPress.com blog linked to your username is empty ie. devoid of content and all support for local installs is provided at http://wordpress.org/support/ that I think you have accidentally posted to the wrong support forum. We cannot help you here at WordPress.com with that site as it’s not being hosted by WordPress.com and we run on different software.
