Cloning category content

    Hi all,

I’m newbie… I tried to create new category via the widget but everytime I created a new category, it automatically cloned everything under the other exiting/old category including all the posts. So I would have two hierarchy of categories (old & new) containing exactly the same contents (parent categories, post, etc)….as below:

    Old (existing) category : Japan
    Parent category : Food
    Post 01 : Okonomiyaki
    Post 02 : Sushi

When create a new (additional) category: Thailand – without adding any parent category…

    New (additional) category : Thailand
    Parent category : Food
    Post 01 : Okonomiyaki
    Post 02 : Sushi

Really odd. Does anyone have a similar experience with me? Would you mind to share? Thanks heaps in advance.

The function of the Categories Widget is to make all your existing categories show in your sidebar. You don’t create new categories by adding the widget again: you use the “Add new” category option, either when you write/manage a post or in Manage > Categories.

(So “Japan” or “Thailand” should be names you give to actual categories you create, not to the widget.)
