    Hello there,

We cannot do this for you.

To delete a WordPress.COM hosted blog you must be logged in as Admin under the exact same username account that registered the blog to navigate to Dashboard > Tools > Delete Site. The guide is here http://en.support.wordpress.com/delete-site/

Deleted blog URLs are not recycled, regardless of who registered and deleted them and no exceptions are made except for the one stated here http://en.support.wordpress.com/recycling-blog-names/

Alternatively, to change blog visibility to Private go to > Settings > Reading scroll to Blog Visibility and choose option 3. See the guide here http://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/privacy-settings

Accounts cannot be deleted so we cannot be impersonated by anyone registering and using the same username in the future. Also note that Automattic Inc. owns wordpress.COM and also many other products and services listed here https://automattic.com/ that do require a wordpress.COM account. Therefore, account deactivation is provided and account deletion is not provided.

    Registering an account here required
    (1) your consent to the Terms of Service http://wordpress.com/tos/ and all policies made under it found in the support docs like this one http://en.support.wordpress.com/deleting-accounts/,
    and
    (2) an email address.

Any personal information you posted anywhere was posted voluntarily. Both the email address and personal information can be removed or replaced at any time.

Here’s how to deactivate your account:
Although username accounts are not deleted, so you cannot be impersonated and have your reputation affected by anyone registering the same username in the future, there are steps you can take that amount to removing all personal information and result in leaving only a throwaway email address behind. http://en.support.wordpress.com/deleting-accounts/

    1. You can go to My Account->Edit Profile and remove all data except the account name and an email address. Create a throwaway email address and change the account email to that throwaway address. This only leaves the username behind.

    2. To unsubscribe from email sent to you from WordPress.com, go here and click on “Block all subscription emails from WordPress.com”:
    https://wordpress.com/settings/notifications/

    3. To ensure the account is locked up tightly, visit this site, generate a password of 15-20 characters, and change the account password to it:
    http://www.thebitmill.com/tools/password.html

    4. To hide your Gravatar profile, login and on the bottom right hand corner of your Gravatar profile page you will find a “hide” button visible only to you that you can click. http://en.gravatar.com/support/profile-privacy/

Indeed, I am serious. When you agreed to the Terms of Service you agreed to the policy above http://en.support.wordpress.com/deleting-accounts/ and yes, you do have to take those steps. No Staff cannot and will not do this for you.

“Create a throwaway email address and change the account email to that throwaway address.”

How do I create a throw away email address? I can’t remove my email address from your records, and that seems both inappropriate and unfair. Any throw away email address I make up requires verification, which is absolutely useless if the goal is to NOT USE ANY EMAIL ADDRESS.

Please end the insanity, and help us!

    @adrninistrator
I typed throwaway email addresses into Google search and got instant results.

You can change your email address on your accounts page at https://wordpress.com/me/account

There is a single email address that can be used on only one username account and not on any others, regardless of how many blogs are registered under that username account.

Issues Changing your Email Address https://en.support.wordpress.com/email-address/#issues-changing-your-email-address

You can go to My Account-> Edit Profile and remove all data except the account name and an email address. Create a throwaway email address and change the account email to that throwaway address. This only leaves the username behind.

I thought this was a support forum run by professionals with rationality. I pointed out the silly system used by WordPress.com in hopes of getting a sympathetic ear who would critically look at the problem from a broader perspective. However, I just saw this other thread and realized I’m already in a nightmare others deal with on a regular basis. https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/i-cant-delete-my-account-2?replies=15

No threats from me, but you can be I won’t have anything positive to say about WordPress.com if this is standard operating procedure. And I don’t think it’s a threat to say I will probably be talking to others about this nonsense.

I’m all out of positivity. Since you’re probably just doing your job, I won’t pour the hate out here. I hope things improve soon, for the sake of all the angry customers who want to delete their account and discover the headache they are in for. Have a great week.

On a more constructive note, as an afterthought, I’d like to suggest integrating one of the third party throw away email address services? Customers of yours who’ve chosen to do business with you can’t reasonably be expected to initiate business with a third party as part of removing personally identifying information from WordPress.com.

Whether it just uses an API or whether WordPress.com needs to roll its own throw away email system, something stands to be improved.

I changed the email on my account and deleted my site, and now when I try to comment on someone’s blog with my OLD email, it’s telling me I have to log-in to WordPress. What the heck!? I don’t want to log in to wordpress. My email should not be connected in any way to a wordpress account! Please help!
