    Hi I’m trying to close out my account — getting this message ‘We are still in the process of removing one or more of your sites. This process normally takes 15-20 minutes. Once removal is completed, you should be able to close your account from this page.’ this has been the same message for a few days now… can you assist? thanks!

    It looks like niftylit.wpcomstaging.com is yet to be downgraded, although the subscription has ended.

    In order to downgrade your site, we must revert it back to the point when you installed your first plugin or custom theme.

    Your site’s content, theme, and customizations, such as widgets and menus, will return to the state they were before upgrading to the business plan. This process will also remove all plugins and custom themes, as well as any content added through them, and you will no longer be able to add plugins or custom themes to this site unless you upgrade again in the future.

    Please let us know if you would like to proceed with this process and whether you would like to preserve any content added while on the Business plan.

    For our information, would you be willing to explain why you’re deciding to cancel/refund?

    Thank you for your help. niftylit.wpstaging.com is an old legacy site and so I think we would like to have it downgraded & closed. We don’t need any of the content etc. Can you assist? Thanks!

  • Thanks for confirming! I’ve gone ahead and downgraded the site without preserving the content, and that means you can now proceed with closing your WordPress.com account via https://wordpress.com/me/account – this will also delete the downgraded site.

    In case of need we do have a guide regarding account closure!
