Close down and delete a wordpress blog URL

  Hi,

  I want to close down my existing wordpress blog but I can’t find out how to access and edit the blog as it was setup by someone many years ago and it’s not possible to redirect the url to our new website.

  Please can you tell me how I can do this?

  Hi,

  You’ll need to contact the original owner of the blog to gain access. If they can’t remember the details they will need to help you with the account recovery process:

  Hi,

  Thanks so much for replying!

  We are the original owners but the staff member who set it up left a long time ago and didn’t save the login details and I don’t have any of the required IDs or codes that wordpress require to do the account recovery so I am a bit stumped!

  Hi,

  Unfortunately, if you aren’t able to provide the original email, transaction ID, or the original activation link, it isn’t possible to recover the account. This is a strict policy as a security measure to protect WordPress users from third parties who may be trying to access their account.

  Hi @web729664750, that site has a moved statement on the main page with a link to http://www.datamine.com/Resources/Customer+Insight+Blog.html, but I see that page is returning a not found error.

  One workaround would be to set a 301 redirect for that url to redirect to your main site page. You can chat with your web host about that.
