I wish my account to be closed completely I’ve changed my username in the hope someone might question why? change from an account you have had sometime to the new one that speaks for itself. I want to close my account completely full stop. reason I no longer want an account with wordpress of any kind. So can you please deactivate my account. Thank you.

There is no way to delete/cancel/close a WordPress account once created.
You can instead leave your account inactive by following this:1) Delete Site linked to your account

I don’t see a site linked to this account so you can skip this step.2)Unsubscribe all email notifications by checking the checkbox ‘Block all email updates from blogs you’re following on WordPress.com’ on link below
https://wordpress.com/me/notifications/subscriptions3) Change your password to random string and leave the account inactive.
4) Change email address under Account Settings. This will help in creating another WordPress account in future with same email id as every WordPress account is linked to unique email id.

Dear wordpress, I am not happy at all that you won’t let me deactivate/close my account completely, and so I have contacted the ICO. I have asked them what are my legal rights with regards to having my personal information deleted. So if you are with holding Data that has been asked to be deleted and you are not allowing it, if this is an illegal act then the ICO will take action. I will just make sure that you can’t say that you are unaware of what I wanted. So I have/am asking you to close/delete/deactivate/ my account and personal details, that you have said I can not have done for whatever reason. So I have asked you to close my account now twice. And if you do not do this then it is down to you and any action after this is of your own doing.

I understand your concern about your personal details. You can empty your profile and personal details by adding fake/dummy information to the following page –
https://wordpress.com/meThis way you can make sure that all of your data is dummy as the original data is overwritten with dummy strings.
In short, we maintain a record of your username but none of your personal data is stored :)Hope this helps!

Dear Krutidugade, I’m Sorry but no this does not help, I’m Dyslexic and I don’t see why I have to go to the trouble of putting a load of fake details just so my account can’t be accessed. If you are suggesting what I understand you are suggesting, you are in fact asking me to commit fraud. Buy filling out details of a form of personal information, with false and untrue details. Is Fraud, you are deliberately giving false information which is wrong. And it is wrong for you to suggest that I do this.
I have sent on my issue to the BBC “Rip off UK” and asked them to investigate why I can’t legally close an account and delete my personal information.
As I have said all I want is to close my account, and if I do what you are suggesting with the filling out or changing my details with dummy details, for what purpose what is the reasoning to go to all the trouble to fill out dummy information that is of no use and can not be used by you or anyone but the account is still live, for what logical reason can you give that says this is the best and normal way to deal with someone who just wants their account closed. Please I beg you show me any logic behind what your asking and I will drop my claim against WordPress. And I don’t mean saying that its the way you do things because this just don’t wash with me. So either you do what I’ve asked or deal with what will follow.Thank You.

Hi Gordon,
I regret you have to go through all this. Adding dummy data is a workaround as you’re concerned about your data. WordPress.com doesn’t intend to harm or use your personal details in any way. The data is well secured. As far as I know, complete deletion of account isn’t possible as per policy rules.
As I am not from staff, I don’t have an answer to why you can’t delete. I have added modlook tag in sidebar for staff assistance. Staff will help you with this.

As @krutidugade mentioned, your account can be deactivated if you no longer wish to keep it. Since we don’t want other people to have your username in the future, we don’t delete the usernames (they are kept so they cannot be recycled).
Our Deleting Accounts documentation lists several ways to remove your personal information. I appreciate you want to delete the account itself but this isn’t technically possible.
Removing personal information from your Account Settings page will mean your details are scrubbed from the account — and those details will no longer be connected to that username.
