closed comments

  the comments for my latest post say closed. I did not do this

  when I published my latest post the comments were closed. Why has thi happened and how can I fix it?

  First, please look under Settings>Discussion>Default Article settings that “Allow people to post comments” is checked. If not, check it and save your settings. http://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/discussion-settings/

  Second, in the Post Editor of the post itself, look for the Discussion Module to make certain that you’ve allowed comments on that post. http://en.support.wordpress.com/modules/ Make any changes if necessary and update your post.

  Hi Justjennifer, I did all of what you explained and still no change.

  It’s very confusing as I did not change any of the settings myself. The no comments conundrum occurred on its own.

  It did happen when wordpress requested I go through the 2 step authorisation process. I actually didn’t feel comfortable handing over my mobile number and then when it got to step three I refused to go any further. Could this be a cause of the problem?

  I hope that makes sense?

  @justjennifer–The module suggestion seemed to fix my problem. I’m still curious as to why I didn’t need to deal with this on any of my earlier posts, but it appears that I now know how to fix it. Thanks.

  We’ve received a few reports of this behavior but haven’t been able to conclusively pinpoint the cause.

  As we continue to look into it, you can enable comments on individual posts by checking the box under the Edit window, as justjennifer noted.

  I do not believe the two-step process is related. By the way, while we strongly recommend it, we do not require you to set up two-step authentication, so you can disregard the notice if you wish.
