Closing account
-
I was told to go to this link to close my account, after wasting seberal hours tryinmg unsuccessfully to do just that. However, this page also is about discouraging anyone from closingf their account with many warnings about consequences but no link to actually cancel. This is exactly what I have been complaining about but no one on your staff seems to notice that. Ihave no active website to lose and I have no purchases to cancel. Please cancel this account for me as I have requested in writing several times. I may contact my U.S. Senators about legislation to protect consumers from web hosting programs which have built-in merry-go-rounds to prevent cancelations and to set of long overdue regulation of the website business. Nexty week I will discuss this with my religious denomination’s Christian lobbiest in Washington to broaden the reach to more Senators. After news accounts that the insurrectionists trying to obstruct or overthrow our government used websites to communicate & plan their attackon our country, I think the Congress may be more receptive to this than before they became victims themselves. Since WordPress seems to have difficulty implimenting my repeated requests to sever all ties to you, it may be a good example to use support this concern. I amnot trying to harm your business, but toi insure that I and other consumers who are not real tech savvy have more protection from unethical business practices in the online commerce. Please close my account now!!!
Thank you,

Hi there, I see that this thread has been flagged for Staff attention, however closing your account is something you’ll need to do. The process to close your account is outlined at https://wordpress.com/support/close-account/ where it says:
You can permanently close your WordPress.com account from the bottom of your Account Settings screen:
Go to your Account Settings at https://wordpress.com/me/account scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on the red “Close your account permanently” and then read the info on the following page. Click on the “Close Account” button to permanently close your WordPress.com account.
Best wishes

Hi @quakerbill
As @justjennifer has correctly indicated, staff cannot delete your account for you. If you wish, you can follow the steps here to permanently close your account, which will remove your personal data from our service: https://wordpress.com/me/account/close
Hope this helps point you in the right direction!
