I have a free WordPress blog, which I have not used in a long time. Also, I have a domain registered by Network Solutions, and I am using it for a website hosted by WordPress. Network Solutions cannot get me through the login to the website dashboard, despite numerous efforts. I hope to discontinue the Network Solutions relationship, if I can transfer my domain to a WordPress business-level account. What is the best way forward?

Hi there,
Yes it is possible to migrate your existing WordPress site (self-hosted on NetSol) to be here on our WordPress.com service instead: https://wordpress.com/support/?s=import
On free sites—as well as sites under our Personal and Premium plans—you would not be able to migrate an exact copy of your site including themes and plugins. But you can import the pages, blog posts, media, etc, and then set that content into one of our pre-installed themes.
If you upgrade to the Business Plan, you would be able to migrate an exact copy of what you have on GoDaddy, using our migration option under that plan. Learn more about our WordPress.com Business Plan here: https://wordpress.com/pricing/
All our plans (Personal, Premium, Business, etc) include the option to transfer a domain so that you can consolidate your billing with us. As an added plus, when your domain transfer is complete, we add an extra year of registration free of charge.
Network Solutions cannot get me through the login to the website dashboard, despite numerous efforts
To move your content over to us would require that you have access to your site on NetSol, so you will want to do your best to work that out before going any further.
The good news is that as long as you have access to the server control panel through Netsol, it is always possible to regain access to your self-hosted WordPress site. This WordPress.org Codex article will walk you through it: http://codex.wordpress.org/Resetting_Your_Password
You can ask Netsol support for direct assistance in completing the steps in that article; and using that as a guide will allow them to be better able to help.
Hope that points you in the right direction!

Thanks for your response! I appreciate your advice and I did read the links you included. Turns out they’ve already been tried, and we seem to be at the place where I’m going to have to start over.
Fortunately, this problem surfaced before I put much content on the site, and I have copies of all of it, so migrating the content isn’t really necessary.
But it’s important to me to learn how to smoothly effect the transfer of my domain name, which comes up for renewal April 15, 2021. I’ve owned if for many years, and I don’t want to risk losing it by doing things in a wrong order.
My email is connected to my domain name on the Network Solutions email servers, and I understand WordPress doesn’t offer email service, so it looks as if I won’t be able to bring that under the WordPress hood.
But, I had hoped to collect everything else – domain, web servers, hosting software – under the WordPress hood.
I was confused by your reference to GoDaddy. (I’ve copied it here.)
“If you upgrade to the Business Plan, you would be able to migrate an exact copy of what you have on GoDaddy, using our migration option under that plan.”
Does WordPress use GoDaddy servers?
Also, just wondering if there’s a handy link that could tell me where to start and what order to do thing in?
Thanks for being here!

Hi there!
To bring over your domain, you will first need to unblock it directly at your registrar. Here are more details:
https://wordpress.com/support/move-domain/incoming-domain-transfer/.
My email is connected to my domain name on the Network Solutions email servers, and I understand WordPress doesn’t offer email service, so it looks as if I won’t be able to bring that under the WordPress hood.
We do offer some email options, but you wouldn’t be able to move your existing account here. It would be more like canceling your current inbox (with everything it entails) and creating a new one here. If that’s something that you’re interested in, have a look here:
https://wordpress.com/support/add-email/adding-email-powered-by-titan-to-your-site/.
You can also decide to keep your email where it is right now, but you would need to add some additional MX records to your domain if you transfer it here:
https://wordpress.com/support/add-email/#setting-up-email-from-another-provider.
I was confused by your reference to GoDaddy.
I think this was an error, and staff-totoro meant your current host, Network Solutions.
Also, just wondering if there’s a handy link that could tell me where to start and what order to do thing in?
Maybe this guide can help:

It looks as if I have my work cut out for me. I am going to mark this post ‘resolved’ and get started reading and studying the links you provided. I’ll start a new one if questions arise. Thanks!
