  If I close the account, can I make a new account with the same domain name down the line, or do I lose the domain forever?

  Thanks for writing to us. I’m happy to help you sort out this question.

  If you’re talking about a WordPress.com subdomain like electrifiedacoustified.wordpress.com then it won’t be available again. I see you’ve already this site so this name won’t be available again after 30 days since you deleted.

  Closing your account not only shuts down your username, but it also deletes all the sites you own and all their contents. And the WordPress.com subdomain won’t be available again.

  If you own any custom domain on WordPress.com then it has to be deleted before closing your account in which case you will lose it unless you transfer it somewhere else first.
