closing account permanently

  • Unknown's avatar

Hi! I opened a WordPress account some time ago and never used it because I couldn’t figure out how (coming from Blogspot – blogging for idiots). Now I have purchased a domain name and web hosting with Site Ground using the same email address I used for this WordPress account. I’d like to start from scratch with WordPress using my email address and domain name. How can I do that without waiting 30 days?

  • You don’t need to delete this account to be able to use WordPress software on Siteground. WordPress.com is a web host. WordPress.org is the software you’ll be using there.

WordPress.com and WordPress.org are a little separate, and that can be confusing.

    WordPress.com vs. WordPress.org

If you don’t like this username, you can change it in your settings. This WordPress.com account can be used to set up your profile picture in Gravatar and use the Jetpack plugin, if you’d like. Nothing in your account settings or the blog you created here will interfere with adding a site to another web host. Try heading to WordPress.org on how to set up a site using that software.

Hope that explains a bit! If you still have questions, I’m happy to explain.
