re: enabling and disabling comments
You can enable and disable comments on free hosted WordPress.com blogs on this page > Settings > Discussion Discussion settings is where you set up defaults for comments.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/discussion-settings/You can override the default settings and enable or disable future comments on any individual post or page.

You can reveal it by clicking on Screen Options http://en.support.wordpress.com/screen-options/ on the top right corner of your Admin page, and checking the box that says Discussion so the module is included. http://en.support.wordpress.com/modules/#list-of-modules

I see this in the info you provided, but I cannot locate it to navigate thru this process:
2. Post or page editor > Discussion module: “Allow Comments” + “Allow trackbacks and pingbacks on this page” (second option: posts only).
Changing these options overrides 1: you can disable commenting on an individual post or page while the default is “allow” or vv. So this is also the way to correct already existing posts or pages.
If you’re not seeing the Discussion module while on the post or page editor screen, click “Screen Options” (top right) and tick “Discussion” to make the module show up. -

Hey there!
To close the comments for this single post, please open it in your post editor here:
https://wordpress.com/post/20185989/2422/?optinThen, scroll down until you see the following in the left-hand column of the page:
https://cloudup.com/cISsWZiLUjrDe-select the comments option, then, click Update to save your change.
That should do the trick! If I can help in any other way, please drop me a line. Cheers :)

Thank you.. I didn’t locate the second link, but I deselected Allow Comments under the Advanced Settings tab. Hopefully that will work!

Hey there!
I took a look at your post — you did indeed turn off comments for it! Nicely done :)
