closing comments on pages

  My “about me” page has a large number of comments and is starting to take a long time to load. I was hoping to close the comments and start a second page but can’t seem to find a way to close comments ONLY on that specific page. I know I can close comments after X number of days for all posts, but I like to leave them open.

  Is there anyway to just close the comments on one page without affecting the settings for all of posts? I’m using Vigilance theme and thank you for you help.

  You can turn comments off for that page, but the comments will no longer display on that page.

  My suggestion would be to go to settings > discussion and under “other comment settings” check “Break comments into pages with __ top level comments per page and the “last” page displayed by default” and put say 10 or 20 or whatever number seems appropriate to you in the box. That will paginate your comments so that things will load faster for everyone.

  @panos, you are correct. The comments remain.
