    If I close it now, can I make a new one with my same username and get a new name for my domain when I’m ready to create soon?

    Hello,

    If you close your account, you will not be able to get the same username again. WordPress does not allow usernames to be reused to avoid impersonation. You can read more about this here: https://wordpress.com/support/close-account/

    If I understand correctly, it sounds like you might not be ready to make a new site now, but you will be at some point in the future. If that is the case, I might suggest just dropping down to the free tier of WordPress.com until you’re ready to make the new site, rather than cancelling your account.

    If that’s what you want to do, you’ll just need to ensure you’ve cancelled any purchases on your account to avoid further charges. You can view your purchases here: https://wordpress.com/me/purchases
