@adarshhalan, the OP indicated they already tried closing their account and saw a message that they need to contact support. Pointing them to the instructions for the process they’ve already tried is not helpful in this case. Please tag threads like these for staff instead, as that error message typically indicates an issue on the account that only we can help with. -

Eventually I realized I’d used the wrong username, missing two numbers on it.. And since I couldn’t log in with my email (even though it says you can use either your username or email!) and I only kept getting the “wrong password” error message I thought it was a password issue.
No wonder changing my password didn’t help!Once I did manage to log in I didn’t see any active plug-ins listed nor could I find my way to Akismet. As you can tell I’m not that tech-savvy.. J
I could not delete my account so instead I emptied my blog of all its contents so now I have another question:
If I keep my wordpress account, but have no blog for the moment, what should I do with my Akismet subscription? Do I need it regardless of whether I’m blogging or not?
