Closing the site but saving a premium theme for another blog
-
I want to close a site, for which I purchased a premium theme. Is it possible to make that same theme available in another blog that I administer?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)
-
Yes, you can transfer upgrades. See: Transferring upgrades: https://en.support.wordpress.com/manage-purchases/#transferring-upgrades

Thanks for the quick response, but… this was a collective blog opened a couple of years ago. We created a collective ID, so we could all have access. My partners stepped out of the project and that’s when I decided to close it. The blog is not for public viewing and I haven’t closed the account because I want to find a way to transfer the premium theme to my personal account. The idea is to close this collective blog (because we’re not going to use it anymore).
Since that happened a couple of years ago, it doesn’t seem possible anymore. I don’t see the options from the link in our site. Any other suggestions?
Thanks in advance.

Companies, groups and organizations of any kind do not own blogs.
Every WordPress.COM blog has a sole owner. It is the person with the WordPress.COM username account who registered the blog under that username account and a single associated email address, and who is the original Admin of the blogs registered under that username account.
You have to be logged in as Admin http://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/#administrator under the exact same username account that registered the blog to access the blog’s dashboard. The Admin login link to the dashboard for every blog hosted by wordpress.COM is:
http://NAME_OF_BLOG.wordpress.com/wp-admin/
* You will have to replace “name_of_blog” with the actual blog’s name in that URL.
After the blog’s owner logs in clicking this link should display all blogs registered under the same username account, including the hidden ones: https://dashboard.wordpress.com/wp-admin/index.php?page=my-blogs&show=hidden
If the blog’s owner does not see the blog here http://en.support.wordpress.com/my-blogs/ then they need to follow this guide > http://en.support.wordpress.com/my-blogs/#my-blogs-dashboard-visibility
If the log-in information is lost they need to visit https://en.wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=lostpassword
If you do not have the required access you need to contact the person who registered the account and sites under them and have them transfer the site to your username account by using this process. http://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/#transferring-your-blog-to-another-user-or-account
If you check each and every possible email address and account and are not successful gaining access to the blog(s) then you must complete the form for account recovery at this link https://en.wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=recovery and submit it to the Account Recovery Staff, and provide proof ownership, so they can contact you by email ie. not on these public support forums, which are available to everyone with internet access.
Support Staff cannot breach the privacy policy and provide the log-in information. You have to provide proof ownership to Account Recovery Staff to gain access https://en.support.wordpress.com/account-recovery/
If you cannot provide proof ownership to Account Recovery Staff, so they can contact you by email ie. not on these public support forums, which are available to everyone with internet access, then you have reached a dead end.

Hi there,
Are you speaking of the site, cafejoyce.wordpress.com that is owned by your account, or a different site?
If you want to transfer your premium theme to a different site I can help you with that, but there is a simpler option:
As you are the owner of the site, you can remove the other users so they no longer have access. You can do this from My Site ->People.
Next, I can empty all content from the site so it’s essentially a new site. This cannot be reversed so I’ll need you to confirm if you want me to do that.
Lastly, if you don’t want to use the current address anymore, you can change the site address to one you want to use. That will remove the current address and replace it with something different, and the theme will automatically belong to the new site. You can change the site address under My Site ->Settings.
Let me know if you have any questions or need any more help with this.

Hi kokkieh!
Indeed, I’m speaking about cafejoyce.wordpress.com.
When I created the site, I created a specific ID by the name cafejoyce. I’m also added with my personal ID (jacinta escudos) as an administrator.
Me and my partners canceled the project and now I want to close the blog. I don’t want or need to save the info we uploaded but we did buy a premium theme (Outspooken) and that’s the only thing I want to save, the option to eventually use that specific theme in my personal blog.
I checked all the options suggested before, but it seems not possible. Meaning, if I close this blog, I will loose the premium theme. Since it was bought a couple of years ago, there’s no possibility for refund.
Any ideas? Thanks in advance for your comments. -
As I explained above, you can empty and rename the existing site, and if you want you can then transfer it to a different account. This is the simplest option and the one I recommend. To empty the site, please reply as the cafejoyce account to confirm. After the site is emptied I can explain how to transfer it to another account if you prefer.
The other option is that I remove the theme from this site, and add credits to that or another account to repurchase the theme for a different site. But the credits may only be used for that purpose. Let me know if you want to do this instead, but again you’ll need to reply as the cafejoyce account. Also indicate to which account (username) you want the theme moved.

Well, I understand it would be the easiest to empty and rename the site, but I don’t see the sense in it because it won’t be used anymore. We decided to close the project over a year ago. We (as a team) don’t want to use or create a new site for the time being.
In my case (let’s say, the creator of the site CafeJoyce), have a personal blog and thought to have the theme available there, since it was pretty pricey and because every now and then I like to change my own template. I might use it sometime in the future for my blog, although I’m thinking of other premium templates for that and not this one in particular.
I’m not looking for a refund. So maybe the second option (add credits to another account) would be a better idea. I’d like the theme moved to jescudos.wordpress.com.

I have added sufficient credits to the other account so you can repurchase the Outspoken theme there. Please let me know once you have done that so I can make sure the theme was correctly added to your account.
