Closing WordPress.com account

I am removing Akismet Anti-Spam from all my sites and closing my WordPress.com account. I trust that this will not affect websites that I have on WordPress.org

I’m happy to see if I can help clear things up for you! :) WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two quite different publishing platforms. If you close down your WordPress.com account it will not have any effect on your self-hosted websites at WordPress.org. Hi there, thanks for your help. I forgot to mention that I also have Woocommerce plugins which require me to log in to WordPress to pay for renewals. Is that affected in any way by me closing the wordpress.com account, or can I pay by other means.

If you close down your WordPress.com account you won’t be able to log into the WooCommerce.com website any more to manage your upgrades there either.
Can you give some more information on why you’d like to close your WordPress.com account?

Good day, and thank you for your help.
I am in the process of turning my clients’ websites over to them as I am planning retirement. The responsibility for maintaining the sites will then be theirs and I need to change the hosting, plugin subscriptions etc etc.
In view of your answer regarding Woocommerce, I will have to leave the account open for the time being.

In that case, I suggest you contact WooCommerce support directly to find out whether it’s possible to transfer the licenses for the premium plugins you have to other accounts. You can contact them here:
