closure of website
-
I would like to close a site but have no details of how to login in – thus unable to get any support. Had to create a new login to get to this stage.

Hi there,
Can you please let me know your site’s address so I can point you in the right direction of getting support?
Please note that these forums are for WordPress.com hosted sites only. If your site is using the self-hosted version of WordPress you need to seek help at the WordPress.org forums:

Thanks — rotarytygerberg.wordpress.com is owned by the account tygerotary. Could you try logging in that with username?
If you are unable to remember the password, it can be reset from the Lost Password page:
https://en.wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=lostpassword
For security reasons, I cannot share which email address that will be sent to so please check all of your email accounts (including the spam folder). If that doesn’t work, the account recovery form will be the only way forward from here:
Come back to me if you have any questions.

I tried the reset option but the person to whom I thought the mail would be sent did not receive it. Is there a name linked to the account or part of the email that can direct me to whom the mail might have been sent. Unfortunately the person who set up the account is no longer with our club. If I had a name I am sure I can follow up with that person.
I have tried the account-recovery-form route but the clab has no records of when it was first set up -
I just want to close the site as it has not been used in 6 years and our Rotary website is now linked with Rotary International

Hi there,
We cannot provide any personal information regarding the account that owns the site apart from the username that @gemmacevans gave above. The only other information that I can give you is the public display name for that account that appears on the published post at https://rotarytygerberg.wordpress.com/2012/05/21/induction-of-ou/ – ErikaG
If you don’t have access to the correct email address for the account and don’t have any of the other verification information we require, we won’t be able to give you access to the account.

I don’t really want access to the account. I just want to close it. The persons who set up and dealt with the account have left the club and we don’t know who the person is that set up the account. How can we close the website? Can I send a letter from our President authorising this? To whom can the letter be sent to?

@willywatson1 we’re working privately with the site owner from here, so I’ll close this thread. Thank you.
