  Can I have a cname of my own domain name point to a wordpress.com account? http://www.paulbarry.com > paulbarry.wordpress.com? It doesn’t seem to be working.

  That’s up to your registar and/ or who hosts your DNS. Hasn’t been a problem yet as it’s been talked about a couple of times here.

  Wasn’t working for me. I have the cname configured correctly, it was pointing to paulbarry.wordpress.com, but it didn’t work. No big deal, I’m going to host a wordpress instance on my own server.
