CNAME

  • Unknown's avatar

I need to change the DNS so that my domain provider can handle my email. My instructions from them was to change MX and CNAME to mx.mail.hover.com.cust.hostedemail.com

I was able to change MX but there is no edit button for CNAME. Now I am getting no email connected with the domain name. At the provider, the MX and CNAME show mx.mail.hover.com.cust.hostedemail.com.

Please help with detail about this. Thanks

    Hi Janice,

I checked your domain and your MX record is correctly set up for mx.mail.hover.com.cust.hostedemail.com.

If you need, you can add a new CNAME record to your domain using the steps in our Custom DNS guide. However, I’m not sure based on the details you mentioned exactly what CNAME record needs to be added. (The CNAME record should include a hostname or subdomain that needs to be set up, for example the subdomain mail.ourcommonground.com pointed to mx.mail.hover.com.cust.hostedemail.com.) Can you check with your email provider to find out the details for the CNAME record they want you to add?

Thank you so much. My provider has instructed me that both CNAME and MX records should be mail.hover.com.cust.hostedemail.com. Right now my email is floating in the e-verse somewhere. Thanks for your help.

    Hi Janice,

Thank you for letting me know. I updated your MX record so your mail is handled by mail.hover.com.cust.hostedemail.com, and I added a CNAME record to point mail.ourcommonground.com to mail.hover.com.cust.hostedemail.com as well. You can view both of those records in your domain manager on your My Domains page.

Please let me know if I can do anything more to help with that. :)
