CNAME Help: mail.appticity.com maps directly back to www.appticity.com
-
i have a new wordpress site located at http://www.appticity.com and i am also using googleapps. Currently, http://mail.appticity.com/ is mapped directly back to ttp://www.appticity.com and i need it mapped to open my google web mail. I have the same problem the other google apps i use. My understanding is that i need to add a custom cname but have not been able to figure out how to do this / what the format is for changing the cname. Thank you!

Hi there,
Take a look at this guide:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/custom-dns/It should help clear things up. If not, what CNAME are you trying to add?

Hewsut … yes, i did check that. My issue is specific to http://mail.appticity.com/. Currently this is mapped to http://www.appticity.com not sure how but it happened when i moved my domain from godaddy to wordpress.
It should be mapped to my gmail account so i can get my web mail and i cant figure out what i need to do.
Thx for your assistance.

First you need to set up MX records and POP hosts on the custom DNS editor (the one Hew linked).
MX record / CNAME information for GoDaddy is listed here.
http://help.godaddy.com/article/340In the DNS editor, enter:
MX 0 smtp.secureserver.net. MX 10 mailstore1.secureserver.net. CNAME mail appticity.com. CNAME pop appticity.com. CNAME smtp appticity.com.Note: MX records (first 2 lines) may not be the same as above for your account, as the documentation states “Enter your MX record information as indicated in your Email Control Center.”
You have a .COM domain, so please allow up to 8 hours for the change to complete. Here’s how to set up POP access for another account on Gmail.
