CNAME issue with custom DNS – HELP!!!
-
I bought a domain with wordpress.com and got bought a host (godaddy.com) to host my website/blog. I edited the settings in the DNS editer with this:
MX 10 mailstore1.secureserver.net.
MX 0 smtp.secureserver.net.
A www 97.74.45.128Now my question is this, if I go to my domain “mimosahiphop.com” it takes me directly to my wordpress blog. However if I go to “www.mimosahiphop.com” it takes me to my hosted site. What do I need to put into my custom DNS settings to make this url work without “www”?
Thank you,
MarcThe blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Am I going to have to purchase the offsite upgrade for 12/yr? That seems a bit ridiculous. Please someone let me know if there is another option.

did you read the instructions??
http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/domain-management/#update-name-servers
Your DNS editing is along the line of changing your email – that is probably where the www came from –
erase the DNS stuff you did – point the name-servers to godaddy – with the link above –
http://www.whatsmydns.net/#NS/mimosahiphop.com – will show the name changes in the internet – keep in mind it takes 24 to 72 hours for everything to change across the world –
Off site redirect or some version of that is if you have a lot of traffic to your WordPress.COM blog and you want it to go automatically to your new site – you don’t say if you have anything on your WordPress.COM blog.
