.co.uk domains

  I noticed when looking at the domain extensions you can get on WordPress, that .co.uk is on the list. Is it I can buy a .co.uk domain through WordPress but just can’t transfer one in?

  Hello @weezy117

  You’ll need an upgraded WordPress.com plan as each paid plan comes with a free domain credit which you can use to either register a new domain or transfer/map one you already own.

  You can register a .co.uk domain on WordPress.com and even transfer/map it if you already own a domain with that extension.

  Thanks @themagicrobot :) @kokkieh is an expert on things like that. I hadn’t even realized .co.uk domains weren’t transferrable yet, but it looks like we’re working on that still.

  
  @weezy117 I wanted to note, even though you can’t transfer it yet, you can map your .co.uk domain if you’d like then transfer it later. Let us know if you need help with that!

  @supernovia Perhaps the support documentation is a little bit vague on that? Granted, in mentions “.uk domains can’t currently be transfered”, but I also didn’t realise that extended to .co.uk domains because they’re two different ones on the domain list.

  .ca, .fr and .uk domains also cannot currently be transferred to WordPress.com.

  I feel like it may be helpful adding .co.uk to the list for that reason – I can understand if that’s not the case though due to “.uk” being on the list, I just presumed it was separate from “.co.uk”. :)

  Fixed, I’m sure they meant to imply *.uk, but I added co.uk for clarity as that’s a popular extension.
