code appearing in text editing field – must me a toggle to turn it off?
-
Here’s a link to a screen shot of what I’m referring to: http://omgeurope.wordpress.com/files/2009/06/wpquestion.gif
I know that the first time I wrote the information for this page the buttons above the text box were different, for instance the “link” button looked like a chain link and the interface for inputting the link information was different.
Also, code didn’t show up the text editing box. When I highlighted something and clicked the “bold” button it made the text look bold and likewise with centering text- now it just surrounds the text I highlighted with the appropriate formatting code (I know technically it was doing that before and I just couldn’t see it).
It’s driving me crazy- I know I must have clicked an option to toggle this somewhere but I’m not sure where!
Does anyone know how I change the option back?
Thanks so much for your help1

Go to your Settings->General page and make sure you’re allowing the Visual Editor. It’s a tickbox there.
-
Go to users > your profile, UNcheck “Disable the visual editor when writing” and then click “update profile.”

Woo-hoo! Thanks! I never would have thought to look under my profile settings! Boy that was fast! What great forums!

You’re welcome. For some reason, that setting seems to randomly and mysteriously change on its own once in a while.
