Code Doesn’t Work

When I try to edit a post, at first I see the code. A few seconds later it changes to “visual” by itself. I click on the code button and it won’t change. This only happens with one post, it works on the others.

Can you give us a link to the post in question?

It takes awhile for the editor to load and that is pretty normal behavior. Nothing to worry about. Once your browser “caches” the images it should load faster for you.

Here is the post: ENTER<BR>Trent, when you say “your browser caches the images”, do you mean when they all appear or is it something else after that?

I thought I could use html on this forum. joecastle.wordpress.com [Its Time To Use American Oil]

You can, but that’s not the right HTML.
    http://joecastle.wordpress.com works, though.

Your blog has no formatting whatsoever; are you using Sandbox, or has something gone drastically wrong?

What Trent means is that the icons take awhile to load up when you go to the Write page. Until they’re all loaded you can’t go to the Code editor at all.

Can you give us the URL of the actual post that’s having the problem?

It says down at the bottom of your page that you are using Sandbox. What theme are you using then? What I see is what Sandbox looks like with all the formatting stripped out; no background colour, no nothing. Because I’ve got my default colour set to beige, I can see the two big spacer boxes you’ve put in there too.

I’m no coder, much less a de-coder, but you have some very, very large images in that post. I don’t know of a standard WP.com theme that would display them without totally distorting what your blog should look like. You might want to optimize them and shrink them down. Not that I’m sure that will fix the issue, but it’s not a bad place to start anyway.

What have you got set as your default editor on the Profile page? There’s a tickbox that you can set for visual or not.

I was wrong, I am using sandbox. I clicked on “sandbox” at the bottom and saw some things I could download. I first chose sandbox when I clicked on “presentation”, but I forgot the name. I wanted a white background with nothing else. On the profile page, it was set for visual. I changed it and was able to fix the problem. I have a Compaq Presario Windows computer with Vista and another one with Windows XP. The Vista, which is what I’m using now shows the pictures smaller than the XP. I adusted the Vista to make them bigger, but it made the text go too far off the screen. I put it back the way it was. The XP doesn’t have that problem. With Vista, I can’t fix the pictures without messing up the text. It wasn’t like that when I bought it. Text and pictures looked the same on both computers. When I used the restore program on the Vista, it changed and I can’t put it back. I guess the pictures look different on your computer.
