Code help recommendation

I didn’t even notice that with the image sizes. I like the medium size is there a site to use that can crop all images so they are uniform because currently some of the pictures look bigger than the others. Or is there a code to make the all the images on the page uniform regardless of what size they are normally.
I can’t get the social topic pieces short code to display.
Once I get that last short code, I would like to work on customization. I would like to enlarge the posts titles so for instance make the “FTESWL UFC 210 Podcast Preview Episode”. I feel it is too small and it’s not eye popping enough the way it is displayed. I am not sure if it needs to be in bold or is there another way to make titles pop out more if that makes any sense.
-
Another thing I would like to work on is each section title Podcast Episodes, Sports & Pro Wrestling etc
I would like the titles to be bigger and more defined as a separation between each section and also if you were to click on lets say podcast episodes it would then be a hyperlink to the page.
Thank you for bearing with me thescaredpath!
-
I got the social topic pieces short code to work. I also figured out how to add hyperlinks to each section title for example when you click on Podcast Episodes on it will go to the podcast episodes page which is exactly what I wanted.
Now I just need help with making each section title: Podcast Episode, Social Topics Pieces etc.. bigger and possibly a different font to stand out from each posts font. I want each section title to pop
I also need to figure out how to uniform each image like thumbnail did but on the medium size I found this code add_image_size( ‘full-width’, WIDTH, HEIGHT); it didn’t work for me when I tried to input some numbers in it.
-
On the image resizing/cropping, I believe there are some online that can do that although I’ve never used any of them. If you search for this “online batch image resizing and cropping” without the quote marks, a number of them come up.
I took a look at your draft page, and add the following to your custom CSS, which cleans things up a bit.
.display-posts-listing .title { font-size: 1.75rem; } .display-posts-listing .date { display: block; } ul.display-posts-listing { list-style: none; margin-left: 0; } .page-id-2232 h3 a { color: #000; font-weight: bold; font-size: 1.75rem; margin-top: 40px; margin-bottom: 40px; } .page-id-2232 h3 { margin: 60px 0 40px; }Also, for your headings for the sections (categories) edit the page, highlight those and then turn them into h3 headings.
Let’s start there, and see what you can do with the online crop/resize.
-
http://birme.net/ I found this site for online crop/resize. What is the ideal size for that page without it getting too big. If you look at that image DAMN. the last posting I made for podcast episodes. I want my images to be a tad bit smaller than that. That size is the biggest I want any post picture.
I tried to add the h3 headings just for the title itself but the code takes over the whole post and it then enlarges the heading and the 3 post titles underneath it which I do not want.
I also added the customization css code I didn’t notice too much off a difference but if you say it cleaned up and can make things look neater. I am all for it.
-
Hi there, on the last two on that page, you had inadvertently included the code for the display posts in the h3 tag. I’ve fixed that for you.
Part of the code I added forced the date down below the title of the posts whereas before it started at the end of the line the titles were on. It also increased the size of the post titles and styled and sized the h3 category headers you have entered.
The medium images come in within a 300px square bounding box, so if the image is wider than it is tall, the width of the displayed image will be 300px. If the height of the image is greater than the width, then the height of the image will be 300px.
Any sized image will do, but I would suggest only one orientation of image, either landscape (wider than tall) or portfolio ( taller than wide) so they will all look consistent in size.
If you wish the medium sized image to be smaller, go to this page and take the medium sized images down to 250px wide and 250px tall, or even smaller. This will affect all medium sized images you insert into your site, so that is one thing to keep in mind.
-
Ok I understand so it’s easier just to do the medium limit which is 300×300 which is fine.
Wait the H3 code already is inputed? On the front page the titles look the same size. The page that is currently up. It’s a little bit more defined tho and it looks bolder but it’s still prettt small.
On the construction draft page everything is H3 and big instead of just the titles.
-
I’m confused a bit here. Currently your main page is set to show your latest posts instead of a static page. The change I made in the content was to your construction page.
I see another page called FTESWL, but no content on that one.
-
Yes, because you said if I didn’t want to do things live I can make the draft and then copy everything to the static front page when I am ready which will be the FTESWL front page. I have copied over everything from the construction page to the FTESWL page and turned that into a static page. The layout we have been working on didn’t show on the FTESWL page. I am not sure what I messed up on?
-
In the Reading Settings, I see you have FTESWL set as the Posts page. You need to set that as your Front page. For your posts page, you will need to create a Blog Posts Page (with whatever title you wish) and then set that as the Posts Page and add it to your custom menu. Then people will be able to go to that page to see all your posts from all categories.
-
Ok, I think I got it. Should I delete the home tab now? Also the section titles podcast episodes, social topic pieces etc those were blue and is there a way to make them blue again?
The posts under each title section text are too big. I like the size for the section titles but not the title of each post. Is there a way to change that because H3 changed everything together. I would also like to change the section titles to blue and make the post titles a lighter blue.
-
Ok Scared I confused myself. I am not sure which is the real front page anymore. I think I am gonna go back to the thumbnail images for now so the way I have it set up with “Home” I like. I just still need help with making the post titles smaller. Now I do not know how to hide the FromTheEastsideWithLove page. I see it is basically the same as my Home page except each section title doesn’t have the hyperlink which I like and the title is black. Which one am I supposed to hide so I can just have that main page up and work on it.
-
I’m seeing the titles on the sections on your home page in blue right now, so I’m assuming you have gotten this taken care of, unless I’m missing something.
On the FromThe East… menu item, go to Customize > Menu, Menu 1, and click on the title of that menu item and then click Remove.
Your home page tab in the menu can stay just as it is as it will take visitors back to your home page (FTESWL). I think having it say “home” is better for visitors as they expect “home” to be the front page of the site.
-
Ok thank you. I removed the From The Eastside With Love tab and now the home is the front page.
Is there a way to make the post titles font smaller? Without compromising the section title font size. Also is there a way to make the hyperlink less conspicuous I do not like the line under the section titles.
If I want to change font colors how do I do that for both the section title and the post titles.
How can I change the white background I have can I change it to a different color as well?
-
Is there a way to make the post titles font smaller? Without compromising the section title font size.
This should do the trick for changing the size and colour (which you also mentioned) of the post titles:
.home .listing-item a { font-size: 20px; color: #bb00bb; }Change the colour code to anything you like, using a colour picker tool.
Also is there a way to make the hyperlink less conspicuous I do not like the line under the section titles.
You’ll need to remove the underline formatting you’ve added in the editor.
<u> <span style="color:#0066cc;">Podcast Episodes</span> </u>Flip to HTML view in the editor and remove all the u (underline) tags.
If the links are still underlined after that, try adding this:
.home h3 { text-decoration: none; }If I want to change font colors how do I do that for both the section title and the post titles.
I gave you the CSS for post titles above.
For the section headings (h3 tags), first, you need to remove the formatting tags you’ve added to your HTML, as they will prevent you from overriding styles with CSS. Again, flip to HTML view and remove the span tags on your section titles, as in this example:
<span style="color:#0066cc;">Podcast Episodes</span>You should then be able to modify the colour of your h3 tags (section titles) with this:
.home h3, .home h3 a { color: #bb00bb; }How can I change the white background I have can I change it to a different color as well?
You should be able to change the background in the Customizer‘s Colors & Backgrounds panel.
If that doesn’t work, let me know.

Thank you everything worked Kathryn!
Is there a way to place texts on category pages? For instance I want to put a link to my archived podcast episodes on the top of the page in the podcast episode category with a label but since it is a category I do not know how to write on the page.
The FTESWL label on my home page to the upper left can that be moved to the center and or deleted?
Can I delete each label on every page “categories” before the actual title of the category. For example when you click the latest on the upper left hand corner it says Categories: The Latest. I just want it to say The Latest no categories.
-
Also the light blue line under each page title is there a way to remove that or change it’s color?

Super!

Category archives are automatically generated, so there’s no easy way to add text to them. There is a “hacky” way to add a piece of text via CSS, but links are not possible with CSS, so a link would not be clickable. If you’d like an un-linked piece of text below your page title on the podcast episodes category archive, this CSS would do the trick:
.category-podcast-episodes .page-title::after { content: "Small piece of text"; display: block; /* put text on its own line (optional) */ font-size: 18px; /* change size of text */ }I’ll answer your other questions in batches.

This will remove it:
.home .entry-header-wrapper { display: none; } -

You can do either.
This would change the colour – just use any colour code you like:
.page-header::after, body.page .entry-header-wrapper::after, body.single .entry-header-wrapper::after { background-color: #bb00bb; }This would remove the line:
.page-header::after, body.page .entry-header-wrapper::after, body.single .entry-header-wrapper::after { background-color: transparent; }
