  How much code can be tweaked on a free WordPress.com site? I’ve added some HTML code. How about CSS? Javascript?

  These are the allowed code on WordPress.
  http://en.support.wordpress.com/code/

  You cannot use any JavaScript.

  Limited inline CSS is permitted on parts of a post or page, but if you want to modify the whole page, you would need the paid Custom Design upgrade.
