Please explain how to attach a picture to a forum post.

Does using the image block attach a picture to a forum post? Please give the steps to attach a picture to a forum post

  • Hi there,

There is currently a bug when you attempt to use inline code. Our developers are aware of the issue and are working on a fix.

Yes, if you want to share a screenshot, you can use the image block and the image will appear in the post.

    Thanks!

The box around words I am asking about is shown in this answer https://wordpress.com/forums/topic/unable-to-connect-woocomerce-for-zapier-plugin-bought-in-zapier/ the words contact support are in the box I am asking about

    Thanks

  • Okay, that’s “inline code” so in this case, you would highlight the word(s), use the drop down arrow to find the formatting, and select “inline code”. Hoping that helps!

When I try to post an image it says sorry you are not able to create posts as this user Why does this happen? What other ways can I add an image?

  • Hi there,

For now our devs are still working on enabling image uploads for all. In the meantime you can upload the image (you wish to use in your blog post) to the media library of any public site on your account. From there you can copy the URL, and then here in the forums use the image block, and choose to add your image via URL.

Hope that helps. Please let us know if you have any more questions.

That is what I have been doing and that is how I see the error message. Is that an issue for everyone? I do see that Staff can put images on forum posts.

    test post from alt account

  • That was me just above, using a regular account and free site – the site is set to public (but requests no indexing). I’m not too sure what the large gap at the top is about however.

Would you be able to share a screenshot of how it appears for you, by just pasting the URL of the screenshot in your Media library?

I am not asking about pictures in the media library for my website. I am asking how to post pictures in forum posts I know it is possible since I have seen answers from staff in peoples forum posts in the new forum setup

Here is an example of seeing a photo in a forum reply https://wordpress.com/forums/topic/stolen-account-4/

How can I or anyone else post a photo like that in the forum?

Copying an image URL of a screenshot appears to work for me. Although once I have an image block here in the support forum it isn’t then very obvious how to continue writing.

You do need the image to be in your Media Library in the first place to get the URL. Good grief. Using Blocks is so clunky and non-intuitive. Oh for the old days of WYSIWYG.

PS How do I put a quote block around words now???

If you mean something like ^ this – just type /quote in the block editor and it’ll select the quote block and you can choose it by hitting enter/return. I prefer keyboard shortcuts myself so once I sorted out what slash command to type to get the block I want, it’s as fast as it used to be to compose a reply. At least it is for me. :)
