Code to save transparent file when right click save as

  • Unknown's avatar

    I’m looking for code to insert transparent png on top of image to prevent right click save as. I had been trying to use the code below with a little success. Basically I want a viewer who tries to save an image only to save the transparent png on my site. I had a bit of success with the code below if I put the two images on the page, which isn’t ideal as the viewer would still have access to the original file, so when I remove them and link the code to the url address of the images they viewer can still save the original file as the transparent file is not saving?

    Can anyone help or provide a link to the correct code?

    Thanks

    <div style=”width:180px;height:186px;”>
    <img src=”kids.jpg” width=”180″ height=”186″ alt=”” style=”z-index:0;position:absolute;” />
    <img src=”cover.gif” width=”180″ height=”186″ alt=”My Kids”” style=”z-index:1;position:absolute;” />
    </div>

    Anyone can defeat that in seconds flat. There are instructions on the internet that tell everyone how to do it.

    If you use the Duotone theme right click is disabled. It’s not available on any other themes here and will not become available as it creates a false sense of security. Anyone can find instructions on the internet and get around it in less than 20 seconds flat. What’s best is watermarking your images or not placing any images and/or text you don’t want stolen on the internet at all. If you are referring to images this may help http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2007/10/19/watermark-your-blog-images/

    P.S. Don’t post hi resolution images. Send them only to those who pay for them.

    Posting high resolution images is a great way to eat up all your storage space and enable yourself to be ripped off. Upload at 72dpi and your sales will actually go up.

    Thanks for taking the time to comment but I post images at 72ppi 1000x667px so not high res but they do still print off to A4 rather well. I do copyright my images however for my Portrait proofs I want to leave that out and cover the image with the transparent gif/png file so if the casual viewer tried to right click they get the transparent file, any other suggestions?

    Thanks

    That is still a 325k & up file size that is high quality. A friend of mine is a Pro Photographer and he posts lower rez pictures than you do – his joke is that you can make a Post Card for your refrigerator from his site. Contact him for better quality.

    If you still want to have some high quality strut your stuff (like you have now) put half a dozen or so on a Password protected page and send the password out to a prospective clients if they need proof of your skills
