Coding for mobile phone menu

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hi there

I would like to know if there is coding to make the menu of my website on a mobile phone screen appear the same way it does on a computer screen?

Also is there coding to make the widgets on my home page appear on a mobile phone screen the same way they do on a computer screen (ie side by side rather than above one another)?

    Thanks

    Christine

    Hello experts,
My website menu is not working responsively on mobile devices but the theme which I have used is responsive. Can anybody help in this.

Hi Sunny, it looks like you are using WordPress but you are not hosted here at WordPress.com. For self-hosted WordPress sites such as yours, I would suggest asking for help from the theme author directly or ask in the volunteer-based WordPress.org Themes and Templates forum.

Hi Christine, with Sela, on computers, you have to “hover” your mouse over a menu items to get the submenu to appear. If we had that same menu on smaller screens, people with touch devices would not be able to access the submenus since they can’t “hover”.

On the widgets, although we could do this, on a small phone screen, the images would be very tiny and hard to click on. They go to a single column so the images are clear, and in the case of your site, the images can be read. Let me know your thoughts on that.

Hi and many thanks for your reply!

Re the mobile menu – my next question is, when you click on ‘menu’ on the homepage, is it possible to have only the 4 main menu options displayed (and not the sub-menus), and then to click on ‘invitations’ for the 3 subheadings to display/drop down (rather than having all 7 menu options display, as this looks a bit messy)?

Re the widgets – I wouldn’t mind testing to see what the widgets look like on a small screen side by side – (and then reverting to what it currently looks like if I don’t like it) – would you mind assisting with this please?

    Thanks

Hi I am not sure what the Pique Theme template (just started testing it out today) supports for responsive menus & Title tags. MY front page, title, title tag & menu looks great with plenty of space on computer for the 4 menus that come with the template. On Mobile view most all looks the same except the Title tag disappears and he 4th menu (Blog) has 3 dots in it’s place where if you touch those, Blog menu appears underneath the others. I am sure it is a mobile thing, but if there is a simple way to either show a typical responsive menu symbol on the mobile version and the Title tag appear it would be great. I also know I will need more menus than four so a way to access them easier in mobile would be awesome! For now I have some intro text for HOME description that states similar to the tag on mobile view. My site is still in construction so I have it set to private. If you need to view it, I can make it public for a few days. My site is hosted on WordPress.com – premium pkg

No, that is not possible. It would require editing the theme javascript files, and we cannot do that at WordPress.com.

I’m having a bit of difficulty getting this to work cleanly, but wanted to let you know that I’m working on it for you.

Hi @designerleatherworks, since you are using a different theme, and since CSS is generally theme specific, can I ask you to create a new thread in the CSS Forum? Many thanks in advance.

Hi there, just wondering if you’ve been able to work out the coding for the widgets?
