Colaborative Blog, howto: email notification & comment via email
-
I’m designing a blog with 5 authors who will independently post via email their collaborations.
I need the workflow to be email driven, i.e.: posts and comments should be done through email, only the administrator should need to go to wp-admin.
There isn’t any problem in setting the “Post by email” option and is a lovely option.
What I’m looking for is:
1. How can I have WP to send an email with post to each one of the 5 collaborators each time an item is posted?
2. How can I set up a “comment via email” option? (The user receives post in email and in replying to the email creates a comment).
3. How can I set a “subscribe by default to all comments” for all 5 collaborators?.I know this might mean heavy mailing, but is the only option since the people I’m dealing with won’t go to a web page to do the mentioned tasks.
Any ideas?
Thanks -
1) no
2) as far as I know, it’s not possible but might be in the pipeline for future development
3) You can’t. The only way to automate this is for the founding admin to set the Discussions so s/he is emailed each time a comment is made, then presumably you can set up some sort of auto-forward in your email that sends those emails to the rest. -
Thanks for timely response….
1) no = not possible???? As an administrator I receive this each time a post by email is done. or is it possible to subscribe for a specific email address?
2) we’ll wait for it.
3) do you know if it will be developed? -
Wait, I misunderstood 1. All they have to do is just Subscribe to the blog by email and they’ll get the posts. But you can’t set it up for them; they have to do it themselves.
3) WP.com doesn’t let people know when things are coming. There are certain requested changes that they’ve said “are on the way” for four years now. You can help by contacting them directly and requesting it http://support.wordpress.com/contact
