Colinear how to get my site like the exemplar?

    Hello
    I am currently using the colinear theme.

    If you look at the exemplar provided my WordPress you’ll notice the blog post has a shaded grey background whilst the rest of the page is white.

    This is how I would like my site to look but I do not know how to get my blog post with a grey background.

    Everything else is how I like it, and can be found at matthew516702.wordpress.com

    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    The post with the grey background in the demo is a sticky post.

    Hello @matthew516702

    I installed the same theme myself and analyzed it’s code for a little bit. The background color that you see on the first post of this demo (https://wordpress.com/theme/colinear) is appearing like that because that’s selected as a sticky post.

    You can see this in the CSS lines below: 

    .sticky {
    border-bottom: 1px solid #ccc;
}
.sticky {
    background: #eee;
    border-top: 3px solid #222;
 }

    If you want all the posts to have that background when they are displayed in a short version (on a feed like the one in the demo link above), you would have to go here https://wordpress.com/customize/matthew516702.wordpress.com (after you log into your WordPress acount first, of course and after you activated the theme), go to the CSS left tab and add this CSS code: 

    body.home article{
    border-top: 3px solid #222;
    background: #eee;
    padding: 24px 24px 0;
}

    Because your post required custom CSS (but you didn’t had any way to know that as you probably thought it would be a simple click-and-enable feature from the theme’s options, this post should’ve been posted under the CSS Customization forum here: https://en.forums.wordpress.com/forum/css-customization

    However, please let me know if this works for you or if you still need more help on this. I’ll be waiting for your reply.

    Changing the post to a sticky post worked perfectly.
