Collapsable list on WordPress.com website?

  Hi! I’m a WordPress.org developer, so I’m used to custom code, plugins, and messing around with the PHP. I have a site on which I’m working which is wordpress.com, so I’m not sure of the flexibility. We have multiple posts which are organized by month. We’d like to also organize them by year so we can have an accordion-style format. The sidebar is getting quite lengthy. :) How can we do that?
