Collapsible footnotes in-text

Hello – if you look at this webpage there is a footnote (number 14), where if you click on the number the footnote text appears, and if you click on the number again it disappears. Is there any way to achieve this on my WordPress.com blog?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there,

The site you are referring to is not a WordPress site exactly, it appears to be a custom “web app” for displaying text, so it likely has functionality that you would not find in a standard website.

In this case we do have some of the functionality. You can create “page jumps” from one part of a page to another, like a footer with footnotes. We have a guide here that you can use to set it up: https://wordpress.com/support/splitting-content/page-jumps/

However, the jump link (a footnote number, to use your example) would not disappear after it is clicked but would stay visible. That sounds like custom functionality on Sefaria, and not something that could be replicated in WordPress without hiring a web designer to assist you.

Hope that helps. Please let us know if you have any more questions.
