Collecting data on a webpage

Hi! I want to start a site that will collect data through input forms and then display data in tables and dashboards. What level of wordpress do I need to be able to do that? Premium? Business?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there,

This is highly dependant on the type of data you want to collect and how you want to display it.

On each WordPress.com plan (even on the Free one) you can use Google Forms to capture data, export them on a Sheet and then embed that in any post or page on your site. You can read more about it here:

    Embed From Google Docs

I want to collect general user data (a user profile) and user generated reviews (a series of dynamic forms) for “products”. I want to then use that data and create dashboards across my website using the review data for the “products”. Are there any data visualization plug-ins or tools on WordPress? Even if I had to manually upload new data so that the WordPress site didn’t have to pull from my database. Is there a way to do that? I want the users to be able to sort/filter through the data.

  • For data collection and visualization like that on WordPress.com sites lower than the Business plan, your only option would be Google Forms and embedded Google Sheets: https://en.support.wordpress.com/google-docs/

For sites on the Business Plan and higher, you can use almost any WordPress plugin, and there are many data collection and visualization plugins: https://wordpress.org/plugins/
