Color contrast needs improving

    Hi all,
    I’m creating a free WordPress site using the “Blask” theme. It’s using grey text on a white background, which is fairly poor color contrast for older people or people with vision impairments.
    On my Contact Form, the color contrast is so bad, not even I can see the boxes that need to be filled in.
    Is anyone able to advise how I can change the default color of text to black and, in the case of the Contact form, either fix the color contrast or put a background colour on just the form itself?

    I agree with your assessment of the default color combination on the Blask theme.

    To achieve both of these goals precisely as you have projected might ultimately require CSS Customizaton. However, you might wish to try the numerous palette options available at Customize > Colors & Backgrounds. Note that the background color chosen there affects the entire site, and can’t be selectively applied to one page or another. Some of the text/background combinations available are significantly better wrt contrast than the default combination.

    CSS customization requires Custom Design, which is a feature of the WordPress.com Premium and Business plans. If you’re interested in pursuing this avenue, you may submit a separate request to the CSS Customization forum. A WordPress.com staff member will eventually respond here and may offer additional advice and information. Staff may be able to provide appropriate CSS customization codes here as well.

    Thanks sooo much for the comprehensive response. It’s greatly appreciated. I didn’t realise that I could change the background color. I’ve now done so, changing it to the faintest of grey backgrounds. It doesn’t interfere with the text too much, but the form fields are now very clear. I’ll play more with customisation now that you’ve opened that door for me, and see if I can’t fix the text. If not, I may have to manually change the text to black on each article I write. Thank you again.
