color of the text, especially in the posts, appears very bright/fade
-
Hi there,
I just created a wordpress blog and chose the theme ”Fictive”. BUT: the color of the text, especially in the posts, appears very bright/fade and I can’t customize it (only the background color). As I am just starting to blog, I don’t want to buy the Pro Version. I can’t imagine that someone else using this theme is happy with this automatically fade text color… If I use this theme, there is no way my granddad can read my posts! :) Is there a way to darken the text color a bit for free?
If not, I will have to change the theme.Thank you very much for your help!
All the best,
YaseminThe blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

No not in any titles or widgets. You change the color only in text within posts and pages, provided you can code in the HTML editor.
WordPress.com sells bundles upgrades. We can “preview” changes in the theme customizer that do not actually display on the blog unless we purchase the upgrade.
If you have not purchased the Premium bundle that contains the custom design upgrade note that no changes you try out aside from those such as Custom Background, Custom Header, etc. which are stated on the theme description pages in the features column (right hand side) will be visible to visitors.

http://en.support.wordpress.com/custom-design/custom-fonts/If you are using the preview mode for the Custom Design upgrade some of the settings in that mode will save but they won’t show up on the front end unless you purchase the upgrade.
To go back to the free options, go to Appearance → Themes → Customize → Colors and click the “exit the preview” link in yellow at the top of the panel on the right.

If you have purchased a Premium bundle then please use this link https://en.forums.wordpress.com/forum/css-customization#postform so you can copy and paste your text into a thread that will appear in the CSS Forum where you will get the help you need with CSS editing.

If you are into fiddling about with font families, sizes and/or colors on each and every post you make by using the Text editor (HTML editor) then you can change it in the body text in posts and pages. But for changing it in Titles and widget headings you need to purchase an upgrade.
These are 3 ways to change fonts on WordPress.com blogs.
(1) Changing font families, colors and size in text in posts or pages either post by post or page by page by coding into the Text ie. HTML editor. http://wpbtips.wordpress.com/2009/07/11/formatting-text-pt-5/
(2) Changing font colors in text in posts or pages either post by post or page by page using the #4 icon (Select text color – change the text color) in Row 2 the Visual editor. http://en.support.wordpress.com/visual-editor/#row-2
(3) Changing all font families, colors and sizes throughout the whole blog by purchasing an annually renewable Custom Design upgrade and using Typekit Fonts with Staff support.

Thank you, timethief!
The Visual Editor is great! But as I will use the Android App to blog, I can’t use it, as my Samsung Tablet does not feature the “Visual” part when writing a post.
Bummer! But I’m sure I’ll find another nice theme.
Thanks again!
