ColorLoop theme homepage number of posts

I’m using theme: Colorloops by Automattic. I’m setting the reading setting to 50 posts at the home page. Still I got only 10 posts at the home page.

    How can I fix this?

Does the theme’s homepage template use the Query Loop block? If so, you might need to make the change in posts to display in the relevant template. https://wordpress.com/support/wordpress-editor/blocks/query-loop-block/

I’m going to flag this thread for Staff assistance and input since it looks like Colorloops front page template is set up in an unusual way in order to allow for the color effects.

    Thanks for your patience.

    Hi @salahmelmouled,

I understand you’re trying to increase the number of posts shown on your homepage — and you’ve already updated the setting under Settings → Reading, but the change doesn’t seem to reflect on your site. I’m here to help with that.

I had a look, and I noticed that you’re using the Colorloops theme. This theme uses a Front Page template that includes a series of Query Loop blocks, each with its own settings. That’s why changing the number of posts under the Reading settings doesn’t update what you see on the homepage — the template is overriding that.

To update your homepage and increase the number of posts shown, go to your site dashboard → Appearance → Editor. Then click on the right-hand side where you can edit the Front Page. Alternatively, you can go to Appearance → Editor → Templates → Colorloops → Front Page and edit the template from there.

Now, what’s unique about the Colorloops theme is that it doesn’t use just one query loop block like most themes. Instead, it’s built with 10 separate Query Loop blocks, each styled with a different color.

So, to show more posts, you’ve got two options:

    1. Add new Query Loop blocks below the ones already there
    2. Increase the number of posts shown in each existing Query Loop block

You can go with whichever feels better for you. I’ve recorded a quick screencast showing how to increase the number of posts in each block — hopefully, it helps make things clearer.

When changing the number of posts shown in one query loop block and in the second query loop block, you’ll need to adjust the offset correctly. Before proceeding, you can check the detailed explanation of the Query Loop content settings here: https://wordpress.com/support/wordpress-editor/blocks/query-loop-block/content/

Let me know how you go, or if you’d like a hand making these changes. I’m here if you need anything else!
