Colours with my blog [not yet launched]

Hi, I’ve never used a blog before so I’m struggling to change the colours of the text and various other things like that. I tried looking it up and there was something about ‘child themes’ but you have to use a plugin which I can’t do because I have the free version. I’m using the free version of the twenty thirteen theme and hope to have a colour scheme to resemble the Disney animated version of the Cheshire Cat. So I ask, is this possible on a free plan? Or must it be paid? Because if it’s paid then I’m afraid I’m going to have to leave WordPress and try a different blog site. I should also mention I haven’t launched the site yet because I’m worried about it looking terrible before I can make these changes.

    Hi,

Since you are new to using WordPress.com I would suggest that you read the guide linked below that teaches how to use WordPress.com

    https://wordpress.com/learn/

This link from the guide tells about the colors of text that you are asking about.

  • Hi @theindependentwallflower! Getting to know the editor and making the adjustments you want should not require a paid plan. There is a lot you can do. Another resource, in addition to what @ryrhino00 so kindly provided above, I recommend reading up on is what we call “Blocks”.

Some of the things you are wanting to do, Blocks can help you accomplish. Starts reading up on Blocks here:

If you have any questions about what you see there, or need help doing something very specific, let us know and we’ll be happy to help. :)
