Cols theme – don’t have the options to change colours, font and font size
-
Hello!
I love the Cols theme and have just activated it – https://www.botanical-tales.com/
But normally I have the option to edit the colour scheme, font, etc in the Appearance – Customise section, but for this theme I don’t have the option. I am using it on a WordPress.org site.
Would I need to add a CSS code?
Thanks!

Hi there,
As you are using WordPress.org open source software, you can change the background color from open source software from
>Go to Dashboard->Appearance->Customize
>From the next screen select Colors->Background colorsFor any other change in color you can use css in the Additional CSS section.
Hope this helps
Thanks -
Hi @insidemynest,
Are you able to access the Customizer directly via this URL? https://www.botanical-tales.com/wp-admin/customize.php
-
Hello,
Yes I can, but it doesn’t give me the option to change the colour of the fonts, only the background. I know we can normally change these things on the Customiser tab.
I guess we could add CSS?
What would be the CSS code to change the top heading black bar and footer bar to 727665, and the header/footer font colour to F6F6EF
-
This is dependent on the theme — not all have the same options, and some use global styles.
Since your site is self-hosted WordPress.org, you can also use a fonts plugin for more granular control over font styles and colors. If you’re not familiar with CSS, please give that a try.

Okay thanks! I have added the font with the plugin, but can’t change the colours. Please can you give me the CSS for this please?
I just need the CSS codes to change the top heading black bar and footer bar to 727665, and the header/footer font colour to F6F6EF

Ah, let’s try:
#masthead, #colophon { background: #727665; color: #F6F6EF !important; }If that still isn’t working, so you want the links to also be a different color? This is specifically for the non-linked text.

Something like this would do, just to change the color of the text as well as the links:
#masthead a, #colophon a, #masthead, #colophon { color: orange; } -
Thank you!
Please can I also get a code for the category and tags backgrounds and font colours – same as the heading colours
https://www.botanical-tales.com/index.php/category/blue-tit-bird/

There you go:
h1.page-title, .tagcloud a, .tags-links a, .wp_widget_tag_cloud a { background: #727665; color: #F6F6EF !important; border: #727665 }
