Column Appearance Changes when post is published
-
I am playing around with column lists, when writing ingredient lists. I love the way it looks when I am typing it, but when I publish the post…regardless of standard or image post format, the lists go down to single word lines…which looks horrible on the actual post. While I am typing, the list bullets are 3-4 words per line…but 1 word per line, when I publish. (see posted link, to view the published post)

Hi there,
I had a look at your post in the editor, and the problem is that your theme doesn’t fully support the block settings you’re using.
Specifically, the Columns block that contains your ingredients columns is set to the Wide Width alignment option, which works fine in the editor. But your theme doesn’t support that option, so the moment you view the post on the site itself, those columns are getting squished into the confines of the post content area, as determined by the them. In other words, the theme is ignoring the wide-width alignment option.
This is happening because the Dyad theme on your site predates the block editor, so it simply doesn’t have the necessary styling programmed to correctly display all the newer options the editor gives.
The simplest way to fix this is to force your ingredients to display below the image, rather than next to it. Click with your mouse at the end of the line,
"See notes, after recipe, for some of my "change ups".Then type/spacerand insert a spacer block. You’ll see a blank box appear under the image, with the ingredients section below it. You can change the height of that box to what you want, then update the post.If you prefer your ingredients to show next to the picture, your other option is to switch to one of our new block-editor themes that were specifically designed to support all the settings of the various blocks. If you look under Appearance ->Themes, this is any of the themes at the top up to Leven.

Hello and thank you for your reply! I do remember notification, a while back, about the new editor etc…I wasnt too clear on everything, so I just left it as is. Clearly the changes caught up to me and now I need to make adjustments.
Is there a specific theme you recommend?

Hello there,
Is there a specific theme you recommend?
We generally don’t recommend one theme over another as this comes down to individual needs.
Is there a site out there you like the look of, or are looking to emulate?
Many thanks.
