Column Title Size on Forever Theme
-
Hi there,
I hope this will be my last question for help….I’m so close to finish customizing my blog!
Is there anyway to change the font size of the column title without change the size of my header? Right now my column titles run and overlap into each other!!! It’s the forever theme!
Thank you ahead of time! The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

To change the font size for the recent post titles shown on the Forever home page (such as “Preysingerstraße”) as well as all widget titles (such as “Contact Us”), add this to your Appearance > Customize > CSS editor:
.recent-header h1.recent-title, #supplementary .widget-title { font-size: 25px; }Adjust the 25px value until the size looks good to you.

Thank you!!
But my customizations seem to be endless……after I fix one thing and actually started posting posts, another thing starts to go wrong and it doesn’t look like I want it to.Here is another thing I need help on now?
My ideal front page is the slider and the 4 columns under it. But once I post more than 4 posts (which go in the columns) the older posts go under in thumbnail format – which I don’t want at all. Is there anyway to control what goes in the 4 columns and prevent the posts from showing up at the bottom? As well, if you go into my categories (for example “Style”), all my photo posts show up as thumbnails. Is there anyway to make the titles smaller or the photos larger? Or even if possible, just show the complete posts instead of thumbnails?

Well, when it comes to functionality such as deciding the number of columns or a special page layout, you’re limited to what the theme is designed to do. Some themes have theme options that will help, some don’t.
But ya know, in this case, since what you really want is to hide part of the home page area and not actually change the functionality of what is being added, I think you can just hide the main post area on the home page only using CSS to get the effect you want. Try it out:
.home #primary { display: none; } -
As well, if you go into my categories (for example “Style”), all my photo posts show up as thumbnails. Is there anyway to make the titles smaller or the photos larger?
Example link:
http://vonzwei.com/category/style/What you can do there is use CSS to adjust the elements already on the page. One exception, however, is making the images bigger. You can stretch them by giving them new heights and widths with CSS, but the image itself will still be the thumbnail and it would turn out looking blurry. There is not a way to change the thumbnail size with CSS.
To make the titles smaller for just category pages, you could do this:
.category .entry-title { font-size: 30px; }Or even if possible, just show the complete posts instead of thumbnails?
That’s not possible at WordPress.com. Here, you get the option to adjust CSS but not the option to change the underlying functionality or how dynamic content is generated for a theme.

Thank you for the detailed explaination! I was trying to do the impossible!
And thanks a million for your code for the front page . It finally looks the way I want it to, yeah!
Thanks again for your help!

Hi, the following will hide the additional posts on the site main page (below the 4 in the columns).
.home #content { display: none; }The 4 that show in the columns will always be your 4 latest posts, so as you add new posts, the oldest in the 4 columns will drop off and the new one.
I see you have made the titles smaller on the categories pages.
There isn’t a way to show full posts in category/archive pages in Forever. It will show an excerpt along with the image and title if your post has text in it. See the Forever Demo category page here: http://foreverdemo.wordpress.com/category/uncategorized/ .

You can enlarge the images though. Go to Settings > Media and increase the height and width settings for “thumbnail” to perhaps 200 or 250 and the images will be larger. The height and width are of the bounding box, so the actual size will be determined by the long dimension of the image. If the featured image is landscape, it will be 200 or 250px wide. If it is portrait, it will be 200 or 250px tall.

YEAH!!! Thank you!
I can’t believe, my blog looks almost the way I had hoped to design it — without paying someone to do it and all with wordpress. Lots of hurdles but the staff at wordpress.com have been so helpful!! Thank you so so much!!

One more quick suggestion, if you take this out, it makes the slider on the home page line up a bit more nicely. I don’t know if you need the width for #page to be a little wider on other types of pages, but if you can do without it, consider taking it out:
#page { margin: 0 auto; width:990px }Or go back to 960px on the home page by adding this:
.home #page { width: 960px; }
