Columnist – dropdown menu
-
Hi.
In the description of “the columnist”- theme, it says:
The Columnist provides a single navigation menu which displays at the top of your site. This menu will support any level of dropdowns and can be configured by visiting the Appearance
When I try to manage the menu it says:
Your theme supports 1 menu. Select which menu you would like to use.
I can only add links, pages and posts to my menu. How can I get change this behaviour?
I would for instance like to add a menu item Categories with a drop down of all categories..
Cheers,

Hi Eirik,
You should see a Categories panel on the Custom Menu screen.
If you don’t see the Categories panel, you can click on the Screen Options tab in the upper right and there is a checkbox to enable the Categories panel.
If you want to create a drop-down menu, you need to create sub-menu items by following the instructions here.
I hope this helps!

Hi Sixhours.
Cheers, the tip about the drop-down menu help. It was what I was looking for.
Is there some way of making the topmost menu-item (the parent) do nothing, like a blank link…
To create a categories menu I now added a link (to the home page) called it “categories” and I then added all my categories as submenu-items. However, the parent menu Item is a link. Can I make it something else? Just text? ..
Thanks, Eirik

sorry, the answer was already there. Forgot to scroll:
Add a Custom Link and set the URL as #. Using # will prevent the page from refreshing when you select the tab.
awesome.
