columnist theme – any similar?

    I am currently using CHATEAU theme on the5krunner.wordpress.com or http://the5krunner.com.

    I have seen the columnist theme and mostly like it. But it lacks in some areas for my needs. Does anyone have any other hopefully free and similar suggestions to columnist?

    I create a lot of content and sometimes very long posts. My criteria for a theme include:

    1. I like the icon-summary-post nature of columnist. that would be great for the home/root page
    2. either a feature-image icon or truncated post for CATEGORY-based menus
    3. for other menus I add posts manually. this is a pain BUT it keeps the drop down menus that appear ‘clean’ – unlike category based menus
    4. I need a top menu, header image and right area for other links

    I appreciate I can add breaks into individual posts.

    You can see all themes that display excerpts on the blog page, with a two-column layout, here:

    You can click the “More” tab to toggle free/premium.

    We don’t have a way of searching for this in the showcase so you’d need to check the category pages on the theme demo.
