  Apologies if this is a dumb question but I need to narrow the margins on the sides of my homepage – so that the pictures in the middle are not so small and packed closely together. How can I do this? http://raisedbywolvesmusic.com

  Yes you can. :)

  In fact, your layout has a little problem. In few words, your pics are 300px width each and your content-area has a max-width value of 660px, which means your table is overflowing the area in which it should be.

  This could be fixed in several ways, but the simplest could be to make your content-area wider. In addition, if your content-area is wider than your images table, it will automatically be centered, because of the auto left and right margin values it has.

  Ok, so now the magic. The Custom CSS code you need is much unpretentious than the explanation:

  .content-area {max-width:none}

  (That would give you problems with screens narrower than about 920px) I hope this helps you. Enjoy blogging!
