Columns, and page hierarchy

Most of the site design I’m used to – by now, its the way I think – involves having at least two columns ( sometimes three) side by side on a Home page ( and more often than not often on other secondary pages) .
Plus a hierarchy of pages, with drop-down menus.
I’m sure this information is out there somewhere; but not easy to find….

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi there,

I’m assuming you’re looking for themes which offer such features. Do any of these appeal to you?

    Thanks. :)

    Thanks a lot, Torres.

Yes, that does seem to be more than enough to choose between; I’ll have a rummage around.

I guess that also means that its equally easy to find where and how to install the theme I chose, to over-ride what we have?

Still, if there’s any equally obvious place to show me where and how, that would be much appreciated!

Oh, and already one further question!

One of my colleagues tells me now that (quote):
“From what I was browsing yesterday multiple columns isn’t currently possible on any theme, unless we opt for a paid upgrade and add plugins. ”

But what I see is a tab that says it allows me to find free themes.
    Can you clarify anything here?

    Robin
